This is not your typical event report; it is a fascinating ride filled with victories, discoveries, and historical events. You won’t want to miss the excitement and jubilation that IQDC has left in its wake, from amazing quiz triumphs to astonishing debate victories.
1. The 5th of October, 2023: A Fantastic Fourth Quiz Win and first-ever ILUMSA debate
Let’s talk about a streak worth celebrating! On the 5th of October, 2023, the IFUMSA Quiz and Debate Club (IQDC) did what they do best – they won their fourth consecutive quiz competition. You heard that right; it’s a winning streak like no other!
This time, they rocked the Ojuawo Quiz Competition at UNILORIN and swept the competition off its feet. These quizzing champs know how to keep the fire alive!
But that’s not all, folks! The fun didn’t stop there. IQDC plunged into the world of debate at their first-ever ILUMSA debate. And guess what? They clinched the first-place finish! History was made right there, and the club couldn’t be prouder.
The judges weren’t kidding around either; they unanimously voted Olofinsao Charity of the Debate team as the best speaker. Now, that’s a victory parade worth celebrating.
2. Regional Triumph and the Road to Nationals
Now, let’s take a moment to celebrate IQDC’s success in the Regional Stage Quiz, held on the 7th of October, 2023. It was a fierce battle where 26 schools showcased their brainpower and dedication.
The result? Six schools, including our beloved Obafemi Awolowo University Medical Students’ Association (IFUMSA), have earned their ticket to the National Stage on the 4th of November, 2023
Kudos to University of Benin Medical Students’ Association (UBEMSA), University of Nigeria Medical Students’ Association (UNMSA), University of Abuja Medical Students’ Association (UAMSA), Ahmadu Bello University Medical Students’ Association (ABUMSA), Gombe State University Medical Students’ Association (GSUMSA), and, of course, our very own IFUMSA!
We also want to salute all the other schools that gave their best; your enthusiasm and sportsmanship were commendable.
3. The 8th of October, 2023: From Knockouts to Second Place Drama
Fast forward to the 8th of October, and you’ve got another thrilling chapter in the IFUMSA story. After months of battling through preliminary and knockout rounds, the club landed a spot in the Finals of the Dokita Intercollegiate Quiz Competition in Ibadan. It was like a heavyweight showdown featuring UI, UNN, and OAU.
The competition started rocky, but IQDC didn’t back down that easily. In the end, they sealed the deal with a sensational second-place finish! The Idáns of IFUMSA pulled off yet another spectacular performance. Bravo!
4. The 10th of October, 2023: A Debate Battle like no other!
Last but certainly not least, in honour of World Mental Health Day, the CAREMI Foundation hosted a thrilling face-off debate between Ife Law and Ife Medicine. It was a speaking showdown, and guess who emerged as the clear winner? IFE MEDICINE (IFUMSA), of course!
Debate Coach Jesutofunmi Iyunade, Vice Chairperson Muoghalu Chinenye, and Adeleyin Brilliant brought their A-game, turning the debate stage into a carnival of wit and words.
What a month it has been for the IFUMSA Quiz and Debate Club! “Winning no dey tire IQDC” – their determination remains unwavering.
