Some facts don’t change and are always objectively true. I’m a girl, and everyone can tell due to my physical features and mannerisms. Those things stand true and we don’t argue that no matter the situation. But in recent times, even this has become debatable.
However, so many other things aren’t black and white. There are so many things that are just a part of a spectrum.
For example, when someone tells you to be nice, and another tells you that you gain nothing from being nice, they both are not wrong. Sure, everyone should be nice, but also, being extremely nice just makes you a pushover.
It confused me so much before that there were so many contracting ideas or advice.
Until I saw this phrase in the bible that says “Whoever fears God will avoid both extremes”.Ecclesiastes 7:18 NLT.
There is a problem when you hold on to an extreme.
You should be nice, you should be less nice; neither is wrong; two truths can coexist and not be wrong.
These kinds of ideas, based on the context it is used in, become right or wrong.
For example, if I am a wicked person, it becomes alright to tell me to be nice. But if I am too nice, it becomes correct to tell me to be less nice.
This means that two contracting Ideas are right.
However, the need to be polarized is not struck out in concepts or ideas that are important, such as faith, career, favourite football club, values and convictions. You have to be either black or white in those.
In summary, life is black, white and grey, it is wisdom to know when one stands true in a situation.
So basically, I don’t argue because although I might not agree with you, you might be right in the context that you are considering. That is if it is a “grey” matter. If it is a “black” or “white” matter, well, everyone can choose to believe whatever or choose to tread whichever path. I can only try to win you over to my side if I think it’s necessary.
