Love in an unfamiliar terrain

When I fell in love, it was strange.

It was different from the characters I read in fiction.

Movies did no justice –

for I did not lose my mind.

I sure did not want to be a fool.

It all felt like love in an unfamiliar terrain

But when I fell in love,

I wanted to hear your voice every day.

My heart grew restless when you did not call.

A thousand questions crowded my mind

when you did not pick up.

I nitpicked your words, and gave voice to your sighs,

I listened to your silence with rapt devotion.

When I fell in love,

I didn’t lose myself, as the movies portray.

But I thought of you every time.

Strange – because it only grows deeper.

This love keeps unfolding,

and now, I wonder where it would lead.

This, to me, is love in an unfamiliar terrain
