Dream Country by Luanne Rice

The author aimed to express the abiding love within families. Also, she clearly illustrated the miraculous twists this bond takes to keep everyone together.

Years ago, fresh out of college, jewelry designer and maker Daisy Tucker traveled to the wilderness of Wyoming’s Wind River Mountains in search of inspiration for her art. There, she found not only inspiration but also her husband. A rancher named James Tucker, a man who has the wilderness within him.

Their seemingly perfect life unraveled when their three-year-old son Jake disappeared without a trace. Heartbroken, Daisy’s marriage fell apart, and she returned to Connecticut with her only surviving child, Jake’s twin sister, Sage.

Thirteen years later, Sage is on a dangerous cross country pilgrimage, pregnant without her lover, and in search of the father she longed for.

Daisy panicked over her missing daughter and returned to her husband at the ranch while praying and hoping that her daughter Sage arrived safely.

During the wait, she learns that you cannot close the door on the past. However, stepping through it can lead you back home to warmth and healing.

Jake, the long-lost twin, is miraculously found by the bond that drives him to act unusually. He reunites with his family, and this special bond helps him see things as they should be, even in broken families.

The author skillfully concludes her book by creating a meaningful connection among family members, including extended relatives. They recognize one another, establish trust, and maintain an unbroken bond.

The story features, love, hatred, feud, fear, forgiveness, bravery, understanding restitution and many powerful feelings expressed at different levels.

It is a superb story, indeed, family bond thrives through highs and lows.
