As the Association of Campus Journalists, Obafemi Awolowo University (ACJOAU) prepares for its annual International Campus Journalism Conference and celebration of its 50th anniversary, the association has released the top 8 finalists for the Adejumo Kabir Essay Contest.
The Essay contest is sponsored by Adejumo Kabir an alumnus of the Association who’s an Assistant Investigations Editor, HumanAngle Media.
The Top 8 finalists include Ajao Oluwatimileyin, Alimi Azeez, Aluko-Olokun Kikilobaoluwa, Babalola Segun from Medicine and Surgery, Ayobami Olaoluwa Andrew, Peace Ajayi from Law, Ogbonna Amarachi from Institute of Education and Zainab Adewale from the English Department.
While congratulating the finalists, Adejumo Kabir noted that the quality of the submissions is a testimony that the students have good skills that could land them a job in Nigerian Mainstream Journalism.
He stated that the reason for sponsoring the essay contest is to leave a legacy that will spur the students’ interest in writing. While referencing how his journalism journey started on campus, he confirmed that the opportunities he got then gave rise to his return to give back to society.
“We started with a little fund this year, interestingly, we want to up the game and subsequently we want to add more money so that people will be encouraged,” He added.
The winners will be announced at the event which will take place at Ajose Lecture Theatre on May 6 at Obafemi Awolowo University Campus.
