Comestae dear Medivoice Readers? Thank you for making it to the board to read this week’s publication.
While different things can be said to have happened last week all over the world, I would like to focus on the literary world and commend the two Nigerian Authors—Oyinkan Braithwaite, for her book ‘My Sister, The Serial Killer’ and Diana Evans for ‘Ordinary People’—who made the 2019 Women Prize for Fiction shortlist. The Women’s Prize for Fiction is one of the most prestigious literature awards in the world and it is the first time that two African Authors will be shortlisted in the same year. Other shortlisted books include; ‘The Silence of the Girls’ by Pat Barker, ‘Milkman’ by Anna Burns, ‘An American Marriage’ by Tayari Jones and ‘Circe’ by Madeline Miller. They are all amazing books!
This award has also honored many great Authors including Chimamanda Adichie who won in 2007 for ‘Half of a Yellow Sun’. So, to all aspiring Nigerian Writers out there; keep writing, keep blowing minds!
Medivoice has also been up to several things and guess what? We can’t wait to reveal them all to you guys. Stay tuned to our BCs and board publications to keep track of all our activities.
We wish all our Readers –be it part one students (new to all the rigors of OAU), pre clinical students who are trying to stay on top of all the upper limbs and endocrine glands or even clinical students, from those regarded as tutorial students (part four b) to those in the heat of impending final exams—a productive and fulfilling week!
Xoxo,
M.TEE
