Good day, dear readers. It has been a while bringing to your screens incredible people from IFUMSA. But if you think we’ve forgotten this tradition, you’re wrong. Let’s welcome Stephen Adeleke; The 001 of IFUMSA. 😌
MediVoice: Hi, can we meet you?
Stephen: I’m Stephen Oluwatobi Adeleke, a 600 level medical student. It’s an honor to have this with you.
MediVoice: My pleasure, Chief. Do you hold any position in IFUMSA?
Stephen: Yes, I currently serve as the President of our great association, IFUMSA.
MediVoice: Our president, thank you for sparing your time with us. You entered the office in February, how has it been so far?
Stephen: It has been a deeply fulfilling experience. Serving IFUMSA in this capacity is both an honour and a responsibility I do not take lightly. The transition into office coincided with a very demanding academic period, moving between postings, examinations, and responsibilities, but I’m grateful for the strength to navigate both. It has been intense, but equally rewarding.
MediVoice: Well said, President. You’ve been a little bit quiet in the past few month, is this because of the exams or something more?
Stephen: The past few month have indeed been academically demanding, which may have created that perception. However, work has been ongoing behind the scenes, and I remain fully committed to delivering on our plans.
MediVoice: Hmm, that’s true. College can be a lot, well-done. How do you see this tenure to go in the coming months?
Stephen: I see this tenure moving forward with purpose and impact. We are building a structure that prioritizes sustainability and inclusiveness for IFUMSAites. The coming months will reflect more visible execution of the plans we have carefully set in motion.
MediVoice: Okaayy, that’s nice to hear. 😊 How has it been handling the office alongside academics?
Stephen: It has been challenging, but also a valuable learning experience. Balancing both requires discipline and proper prioritization. With God’s help, it has been manageable, and I remain committed to excelling in both areas.
MediVoice: That’s a positive perspective to that. What has been the major shifts for you since you entered the office?
Stephen: The biggest shift has been a stronger focus on welfarism and responsiveness to students’ needs. Leadership at this level requires constantly thinking beyond oneself and prioritizing the collective good.
MediVoice: That’s true, that part is bigger and important. However, what should the IFUMSAITES be expecting from the FORWARD IFUMSA?
Stephen: IFUMSAites should expect a more student centered administration that listens, engages, and delivers. FORWARD IFUMSA represents progress, accountability, and intentional impact across academics, welfare, and professional development.
MediVoice: Sweet! We will be expecting all that. 😊 Do you have any words for MediVoice?
Stephen: A very big welldone to you. I appreciate the work you’re doing in keeping IFUMSAites informed and engaged. This is very important for transparency and communication with the end goal of strengthening our association.
MediVoice: Thank you very much for your kind words. ✨ And again, thank you for your time. Finally, let’s wrap this up by saying some words to any IFUMSAites reading this.
Stephen: You’re welcome. 😊 To every IFUMSAites, this administration is for you. We are committed to serving with purpose, and dedication. As a result, there are many impactful initiatives ahead, and I encourage everyone to stay engaged and be part of the journey. Together, we will move IFUMSA forward.
