I Think I’m Kinda in Love with You.

“I think I’m kinda in love with you.”

“You think?” He chucked a popcorn kernel at her face.

She deftly caught it in her mouth, and paused the movie they were watching.

“I definitely show all the symptoms of it.” She said thoughtfully. She looked up from the pillow she was resting her head on.

“Well, I know for sure that I’m in love with you.” The boy smiled.

‘Really?” The girl grinned widely when the boy nodded.

They sat in comfortably for a while, the rain a steady backdrop to their thoughts

“I actually do love you.” The girl remarked after a while, as if in shock at the audacity of her own emotions. “This is weird. Love is so weird. “

“Yeah.” He agreed. “It’s like your brain sees this person and decides, hmm…offspring.”

“And sometimes, I feel this illogical urge to hold you for a really long time.”

“The feeling is very requited.” He sat by her side on the couch, and she snuggled up into his embrace.

A sigh of contentment. “Sometimes, I just wish I could store moments like this up in a bottle.”

“Yeah,” she agreed. “Like one of those cute fancy glass bottles with those wooden things on them.”

“Corks?”

“Yes, corks.” She sat up, excitedly gesticulating as she was wont to do. “We’ll mass produce this feeling and sell it for a thousand bitcoin per bottle,’

“Not quite the direction I was going in…” He laughed.

“We’d be rich.” She rubbed her hands together like a cartoon miser.

“You are so adorable.” He observed.

She kissed him on the cheek and settled back into his arms.

“What symptoms make you sure you’re in love?” She asked him.

“Well, for one I never thought I’d want to die to save any one before. But now…”

“But now?”

“I would consider it. For you.” Very magnanimous.

“Aww, how sweet.” Everly sarcastic.

“What about you?”

“Sometimes I’ll be thinking about really important stuff, you know, like maths or chocolate, you know ?”

He nodded seriously.

“And then all of a sudden I see your stupid face in my head, and I’m smiling like an idiot because I am thinking about you.” She sounded exasperated by this phenomenon.

“A terrible fate to come on anyone, my face constantly popping into their thoughts.”

“I know!” She exclaimed. “Such nonsense. And you know the worst part?”

“What?” He stroed her cheek.

“My art is absolutely terrible now.”

‘What?” he laughed.

‘I mean, it’s not like it’s bad bad.” She elaborated. “But I normally paint darker stuff you know, and now all I want to paint is all these happy scenarios and portraits of you. Quite disgusting, actually.”

“We’ve become one of those hopelessly happy couples I used to hate.”

“Exactly. O wrong nau”

A moment of laughter.

‘Is this too good to be true?” She asked.

“Nah, I’m sure tons of happy couples all over the world are wondering that too.”

“Well, there’s also the possibility that we’re made up…” The girl remarked.

“Of like matter?”

“No, like we may only be in someone’s imagination. A fantasy for a love they wish they had, but are too lonely and pathetic to have.”

“Well, that’s highly unlikely.” The boy said. “It’s like Occham’s razor. Think horses not zebras.”

“But what if it’s far more likely that we aren’t real than we’re real.’

The boy had a slightly panicky thought. “Hey, what’s my name?”

The girl stood up. “Dude, I don’t know. I don’t know my name either.”

‘Our imaginer didn’t think that far, most likely.”

The boy looked up at the ceiling. ” Oh, that son-of-a-“

“Or daughter-of-a-‘

“Are we just some outlet of your sick fantasies?” The girl yelled up at the ceiling, which for some reason, they seemed to think I was above.
