Good day, Medivoice readers. Let’s meet Coolzkiddo, a social member of the Magna class.
This week, in our Personality of the Week session, we are honoured to feature a distinguished, vibrant, and jovial member of the Magna class. Join us as we welcome and learn from the experiences of “Coolzkiddo,” a member of the social committee of the Magna class.

We are honoured to have you. Can you kindly introduce yourself?
My name is Lawal Abdulmuiz Olamilekan P.K.A. Coolzkiddo. I am a third-year medical student at OAU.
What else do you do outside of medical school?
I just started venturing into the tech and business world. I also love teaching and have had the privilege of guiding many students who are now excelling in various institutions.
What inspired you to choose medicine as a career?
My uncles and their wives are all in the medical field, and that was a significant influence on my life.
How has your experience in medical school been so far?
It has been a wild ride. I am currently halfway through a challenging task, but I am pushing through.
What’s the most memorable day you have had in medical school up until now?
A lot of memorable days, but the craziest one was when Dr. Abiodun called me and palpated me to show locations of lymph nodes present in the upper limb after catching me talking with a coursemate during lectures.
What challenges have you faced along the way?
I won’t say I have faced a lot, but preparing for in-course, especially with limited time, can be overwhelming.
How have you managed to cope? What are your survival strategies?
My major coping strategy is having money. I can read and cope with whatever is in my way when I have money to buy things to eat or drink. Friends and family, and their constant calls and checkups, work well too.
What aspect of medical school intrigues you the most?
I love the fact that I am getting a clearer picture of all I did in secondary school biology, especially anatomy and physiology. I find it amazing learning how the body works in normal conditions and in abnormal situations.
If you had not pursued medicine, what other field might you have pursued?
I honestly have no idea. I don’t find anything interesting aside from medicine, but maybe business.
What advice would you give to those aspiring to study medicine?
As I said, I have taught students who are currently studying medicine in higher institutions. I remember how I used to find ways to drag them into medicine, but right now, I will just tell anyone that wants to study medicine that anything you see or experience is your own, because medical school will drain you; it will suck the life out of you, and no one is coming to help you. Moreover, You just have to help yourself and derive joy from the support of family and friends. Lastly, always strive for excellence, and most importantly, never forget the God factor; be prayerful.
Finally, any shout-outs to fellow IFUMSITES who have inspired or supported you?
Shout out to my greatest support system in this med school: Ummhanni, Josh, Ola Sam and Timmysit
My mentor: BBS Mutqin, namesake: Olawoyin Abdulmuiz, checkup mates: May, Loveth and Deborah, my ever amazing sis: Masda.
Also, my top gees: Timmy Idowu, David Oluwatosin, Akinyele, Fadlullah, AzeezDr, Ash, Ini, Strange, Beauty, Dr. Park, Praise, and Seyi, and every amazing magna mate, thanks for everything, guys.
