Eventually, it’ll work out

It won’t be hard, it won’t be hard
I repeatedly told myself.
“You just have to believe in you”,
I reassured myself.

But life has thrown its curveballs,
Given me a different tune to dance to,
And reminded me of a bitter truth:
It won’t always go my way.

But that is where grit comes in.
When effort fails and hope is out of sight,
It asks, “What can I make out of this?”
And finds a reason to press on.

It refuses to throw in the towel
At the first glimpse of failure.
Instead, it clings to hope
Not immediately, but eventually, it’ll work out.
