Health Week Feelers among Medical Students

The most anticipated event of IFUMSA is here! It has started powerfully with a rally across the OAU campus to raise awareness about the events. Health Week holds yearly with a lot of exciting and impactful programs. From Articine, an event for medical students to showcase their creativity in visual and audio works of art. To a community outreach to serve our locality by providing free medical care.

There is also a health conference with this year’s theme focusing on how workforce, policy, and system reforms can shape the future of medicine in Nigeria. A quiz competition, IFUMSA Olympiad, to showcase brilliant minds will also be held, as well as IFUMSA Olympics, a sporting event. The week ends gallantly with a grand dinner and award night.

The Annual Health Week always holds a lot of memories and exciting moments. Interviewing IFUMSAites on how they feel about this year’s Health Week, Dolapo says, ‘health week has a unique energy and I’m really looking forward to the vibe, activities, and the whole experience’. For Paul, ‘I’m indifferent and I’ve not really been following up with the line of events’. Medschool must have really been having a toll on him lately.

As to what event is the most anticipated, Isaiq says, the community outreach because it’s a chance to connect to the community and apply medical knowledge in a meaningful way. Oyinkansola says it’s Articine. Of course, the most colourful event! Some others can’t wait to see what class will carry the cup home in the Olympics. Some are excited about the journal launch and how insightful the scientific conference would turn out. It’s a whole lot.

The expectations of IFUMSAites are very high about this year’s health week. Paul says, ‘I expect it to be more fun and a bit different from the usual’. For Oyinkansola, she is looking forward to gaining lots of insights from the programmes. Another IFUMSAites says he is expectant to see the brilliance and organization of the planning committee with their months of preparation.

IFUMSAites are also joyous ’cause, it’s a time to be free from classes and postings, to take a break from books and rigorous studying. It’s an opportunity to make unforgettable memories, meaningful connections and gather new experiences to brighten up medschool journey.

The excitement around Health Week continues to build, making IFUMSAites fully immersed in the rhythm of each activity. From interactive sessions to the anticipation surrounding the grand dinner, the outreach and Olympiad, the atmosphere across campus reflects a mix of curiosity, enthusiasm, and community spirit. All these reinforces why Health Week remains one of the most cherished traditions in IFUMSA’s calendar.

Kudos to the local organizing committee. The effort, dedication, and thoughtfulness they put into the planning are impressive. They’ve cooked, and we are ready to be served!
