A few years ago, we didn’t always wear scrubs as medical personnels in Nigeria; with the advent of scrubs came the need to look good and stylish in them.
After all, you deserve to look and feel good as it affects your productivity at work.
So, here are four different ways to style your scrubs.
1. Wear your size.
This may seem obvious, but I can’t overemphasize it. Avoid wearing too big or too fitted scrubs.
Wearing a scrub too big can make you look sloppy and shapeless; you want to look good when carrying out your
duties as a medical student.
Also, avoid scrubs that are too tight; they are uncomfortable and can impair your activities in the workplace. A well-fitted size is just perfect.
2. Play with colours.
Aside from the regular blue scrubs that everyone wears, you can choose to wear other colours such as purple, brown, pink, burgundy, and so on.
Rich tones (think emerald green, navy, or burgundy) exude sophistication, while softer pastels bring a fresh, calming vibes. If patterns are allowed, you can play around with geometric prints, floral prints or even abstract designs on your clothing.
3. Accessorize with intention.
In a professional setting like the hospital, there is so little you can do when it comes to accessorising. Accessories like wristwatches, small earrings, hair accessories and rings are appropriate.
Avoid wearing too big or dangling earrings as they might portray you as unprofessional; some of the patients might even find it offensive. When accessorising, less is more. Stick to 2-3 accessories max for a clean, put-together look.
4. Pick good shoes.
As medical students, you’re going to be on your feet most of the time; you need footwear that makes you feel comfortable all day long.
Footwears like:
•Sneakers: Brands like Nike and Adidas provide comfort and support in their footwear in sleek minimalist colours
•Crocs: Crocs nowadays come in different fashionable designs and colours.
And they are comfortable too, Perfect for the everyday work of being a medical personnel.
Conclusion: Own Your Scrub Style
Wearing scrubs doesn’t have to feel like a uniform prison, whether it is by picking scrubs that fit, playing with colours, accessorising with intention or picking shoes that fit, you can look good and show your personality with your scrubs without sacrificing professionalism.
