Things to Pack for you Trip to Olumirin Waterfall

As Nigerians, when a destination is tagged affordable, the planning and execution of the trip must be centered around the term “affordable.” Luckily, going on a trip to Olumirin waterfall would not cost you a tooth and an eye, as it is undoubtedly one of the most affordable places to see in Nigeria. But the things to carry along to the waterfall determine to a large extent whether you reside within or outside Osun state.

Residing Within the State

If you stay within Osun State, you can visit the waterfall and go back home in a day. The things you need to bring along include

  • A lovely playsuit or swimsuit for ladies
  • Shorts and big biceps for guys
  • Easy footwear to aid your climbing the stairs
  • A small water bottle
  • Camera to capture moments
  • Will and zeal to become the next Tarzan because you will climb rocks and trees.
  • Small speakers if you love music

Residing Outside the State

When packing for this trip, you should play to stay for at least a day. Ensure you bring along the things mentioned above and

  • A change of clothes
  • A small towel
  • Toiletries
  • Enough money for food
  • Perfumes and Bodyspray
  • Hair essentials (for my ladies)
  • Jewellery
  • Comfortable footwear
  • Medication (if you are on any)
  • Your mother’s wrapper to keep you warm at night.

Exploring Olumirin Waterfall: One of the Most Affordable Places to See in Nigeria

At the gate, you are to pay a fee of 1000 naira per person. Relax; this is the only fee you will pay there. A tour guide will be assigned to you, or you can explore the place by yourself. This tour guide is responsible for carrying your speakers or any other baggage that may prevent you from climbing the stairs comfortably. The assigned person is also responsible for providing you with a brief history of the waterfall and guide you through the hiking paths.

The first stop is a small statue representing the source of the water. However, this doesn’t 100% make sense because no present-day human knows or has seen this origin. But that is a thought for another day.

There are seven floors to get to the source of this water. Each floor contains 100 stairs. But there is a relaxing spot and a natural pool on the second floor. Honestly, there were stairs to get you to the second floor but it is full Tarzan mode from there. Rocks, tree branches, sand, and insects replace staircases to get to the upper floors. If you are not adventurous, it is best to stay and enjoy the cool water on floor 2. But if you want to bring out your inner beast, feel free to crawl your way up the rocks.

Warning: Do not look back. Your fear of heights can cause you to tremble. If you miss a foot, you and your entire crew will go down the hill into the unknown!

After climbing and failing to find the source of water, feel free to come back to the second floor and play water games with your people. Listen to music, dance, and swim to your heart’s content.

Wrapping Up

Going to Olumirin waterfall is perfect for a trip during a school break or an excursion for the young and agile mind. It is also a charming place to visit with your family and friends. And the best part? It’s just one of many hidden gems in Nigeria waiting to be explored. So why stop here? Pack your bags and set out to see the next affordable place in Nigeria.
