Get to Know Motilayo Akande: Our Phenomenal AGS

Motilayo Akande - A Phenomenal Lady.

Hello, MediVoice readers. Did you miss us? 🌝 It’s great to be back! As we continue our tradition of showcasing exceptional individuals, it’s our pleasure to introduce our Personality of the Week. So, without further ado, Let’s get to know Motilayo from the Invictus Class – A Phenomenal lady.

MEDIVOICE: Hi, Motilayo, it is good to have you here with us. Can we meet you?

POTW: Thank you. I’m Akande Motilayo Christiana, a part 2 medical student, and people call me Dr. Moh

MEDIVOICE: Hmm, preclinicals…the introduction into “shege pro max.” I know you’ll be feeling things already. 😂 So, how has it been so far?

POTW: Honestly, it’s a rollercoaster. It all started chill, with me reading at my own pace and there was little or no pressure. Now, it is getting “worserr.” 😂 I just wish we skip to the good part. But yeah, I’ll survive.

MEDIVOICE: I can relate. 😅 College can do all that. But I love how you ended on a positive note. Do you have any leadership roles within or outside IFUMSA?

POTW: Yes, I’m the current Assistant General Secretary of IFUMSA.

MEDIVOICE: I think it’s safe to call you my amiable AGS then. 😌 What excites you most about this new position?

POTW: This role is a platform for me to serve, grow, and contribute to the legacy of our association. Also, working with great and like-minded people makes it exciting and fulfilling.

MEDIVOICE: How do you feel about taking on this new role, especially juggling things with academics?

POTW: I am aware of the added responsibilities and I’m also trying to balance things with my academics without letting one really affect the other. I believe everything falls under prioritizing effectively and careful time management.

MEDIVOICE: This is so true. Additionally, what has been your best coping mechanism?

POTW: Sleeping. 😭

MEDIVOICE: Hands down! 😂 Let’s sleep our worries away, ehn? All will be well. So, are you team burning the midnight candle or as the cock crows?

POTW: I read anytime. Anything to keep the wolves at bay, or what do you think?

MEDIVOICE: Absolutely! Anyway na way. 😅 Let’s get to know you better. What do you do besides being a medical student?

POTW: I create content and I have a YouTube channel where I share educational content. I also share study tips and my personal journey and insights.

MEDIVOICE: That is really nice. Let’s do a little fun thing real quick. If you could have any superpower to survive med school, what would it be?

POTW: Photographic memory or sight seeing.

MEDIVOICE: Hehehe! Someone wants to be the next Professor X. 😂 Well, I understand and I’d love to have that too. Would you rather read a book or watch a movie?

POTW: I’d watch a movie. For someone stuck with these huge textbooks, spare me some time, please.

MEDIVOICE: I get you, anything away from the “books.” Moving on, what do you like most about being an IFUMSAite?

POTW: The respect that comes with hearing you’re one. The warm embrace of being a part of the family.

MEDIVOICE: That is so heart-warming. 🤭 As we near the end of the conversation, give a shout-out.

POTW: Shout out to all my friends and well-wishers. I love you all. ❤

MEDIVOICE: Lastly, before we wrap up, I’d like to ask: do you have any word(s) for MediVoice?

POTW: You guys are really doing a great job. Well-done.

MEDIVOICE: Thank you for your kind words Motilayo; we enjoyed every bit of your presence.

And with that, we’ve come to the end of our interview, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you for staying with me till the end. We hope you enjoyed the interview as much as we did. If you’d love to see more of this content, click here.
