Hey there, lovely readers! 🤭 It’s another edition of Personality of the Week, and as you already know we do not disappoint. Today, we’re bringing to you someone who’s all booked, busy, and yet still grounded. Let’s meet Simi — a woman of many hats and one steady heart. We’d be having a little chitchat and who knows…maybe she will share her secrets? 🌚
MediVoice: Hii, can we meet you?
Simi: Of course, I am Odumuyiwa Similoluwa Esther. And I’m a part 5 medical student…the Unicus class.
MediVoice: Alright Simi, so nice to have you here. Part 5, uhn? You’ve gone through the rollercoaster of endless postings. No jokes, must have been a lot. So, in just three words, can you describe your journey in medical school so far?
Simi: You’re right, it’s a lot. 😅 I’d say, hectic, fulfilling, and grace.
MediVoice: I get that last word, that’s the main deal. Do you mind sharing with us your most exciting moments during this journey?
Simi: No, not at all. There have been exciting moments — mostly with my friends and in class. We try to make the most of every free time we get . And of course, there have been embarrassing moments…like being percussed or called out for moving purulent stoof. That one lives rent-free in my head! 😂
MediVoice: Hilarious! 😂 Stuff or stoof, man must have one. So, are you a member of any association? Within or outside IFUMSA?
Simi: Yes. I’m a member of IARC in IFUMSA and Asido Campus Network.
MediVoice: IFUMSA Alumni Relations Committee, cool. What is one attribute you sincerely appreciate you learned from the club?
Simi: I’m in the publicity team and we have an excellent team lead — Ayomipo. She outlines everyone’s roles so well. IARC also organized an online graphics design training , and I’m really grateful to be learning from that too.
MediVoice: That’s insightful. Do you engage in any activities aside from medschool or you focus solely on the degree?
Simi: I’m a drama minister in my church. I also sell nicely packaged beans flour — perfect for akara, moi moi, and even gbegiri — all at affordable prices. Plus, I serve as the CMDA School Academic Secretary for the OAUTHC student chapter. And like I mentioned earlier, I’m currently learning graphics design.
Simi’s Packaged Bean Flour

MediVoice: Okayy okayy, I see the hats! 🌝 An entrepreneur, a leader, a top-notch graphic designer in the making, and a drama minister? You’re definitely living up to your name. So tell us — have you acted in any play this year? And what’s one thing that stuck with you from the role?
Simi: Thank you, that’s so nice of you. And, yes I have acted in a play this year. What really stayed with me is this: it’s the level of preparation of your heart and the amount of expectation you have that determines how much you receive from God when you encounter Him.
MediVoice: A profound lesson you learnt there. Engaging in all these activities would definitely take a toll on a medical student. I know there is no 100% balance, so what have been your coping mechanism?
Simi: It has been God all the way. I’ve learnt to adjust as it comes. I prioritize different things when it is required too.
MediVoice: Hmm, priorities. I understand. Part 4 is one of the most challenging year in college. However, do you have any regrets after going through this period?
Simi: No, I have no regrets. Indeed, it was an experience that stretched me thin but I needed it. And, I believe in its entirety, has shaped me into who I am becoming.
MediVoice: Perfectly said. Now, you’re in part 5, medical school is almost over. How do you feel about this? Yes, I know you would be excited — I would be. 😂 But is there a little bit of bittersweet nostalgia?
Simi: I have been in school for a while so, I’m like finally, ọpẹ́ óò. 😂 But I’m also reluctant to leave the safe walls of medical school and venture into real Clinical practice.
MediVoice: It is understandable. In addition, what advice would you give for the upcoming clinical students?
Simi: It’s a journey everyone will experience. Go with God and enjoy it every step of the way.
MediVoice: So true and the God factor? Always. Now, enough of the serious stuff. Horror movies or romance? 🌝
Simi: Romance, pleaseee. I’m not really a fan but horror? No óò. 😂
MediVoice: Looks like we have a lover girl in town! No shade, I am one too. 😌 Before I forget, do you have any special human you’d want to give a shout-out to?
Simi: I can’t choose one, they’ll fight me. 😂 A shout out to my friends and roommates. I’m so glad and lucky to journey medical school with you all.
MediVoice: I see what you did there. 🌚 Any final words for MediVoice?
Simi: Keep up the great work. You all are going places. ✨
MediVoice: Thank you so much Similoluwa, it was really fun having this conversation with you.
And that’s it dear readers! We have come to the ebd of this week’s Personality of the Week. I hope you enjoyed meeting our woman of many hats—Similoluwa.
