I’ve always loved harvest
The colours, the way they blend
Splashing my eyes with bright shades
The sun, still with it’s scorching effect
But me, blind to it all.
What I loved most was the park
Where we played our childhood out.
The worn out bench in the corner,
Where our raging teen hormones took over
In the cover of the night.
When I reminisce though
It’s your eyes I miss the most
Honey brown, flecks of gold.
They seemed to radiate what the tress were saying
That they would soon be bare. Gone.
In my naivety, the only thing I knew of
Was the way your lips knew each soft spot of mine.
The strings they pulled as we both danced
With our guttural sounds
Piercing the still night.
