Argentina🇦🇷 March👣 on
Messi Inspired Argentina to a 3-0 win over Ecuador after his three-goal contributions of a goal and two assists
The scoreline albeit did little justice to the team’s performance on the pitch as the Ecuador team actually proved stubborn for the larger part of the game.
The first goal came in the 40th minute with Rodrigo de Paul finishing up a goal from a Lionel Messi’s pass.
In a much more interesting 2nd half, a defensive error from Ecuador allowed Lionel to tee up a pass to Lautaro Martinez who in turn made no mistake with a brilliant top corner finish. After Hincapie’s foul on Di Maria and a consequent red card in the 89th minute, Messi made no mistake converting the subsequent freekick, his second direct free-kick goal of the tournament.
Fairy Messi🏋🏼💪🏽
It was the cherry on the icing for the out of club contract Argentine who had a brilliant game, typical of a captain’s performance.
Colombia🇨🇴 next…
The result means Argentina will face Colombia in the semis. The Colombian team defeated Uruguay in the quarter-finals via penalties after a 0-0 full-time score.
Chile out🤥…🇨🇱👎
Meanwhile, good news perhaps for Argentina after their old foe, Chile, were eliminated. Chile has denied Argentina and Messi in particular twice in the last six years from clinching an international trophy.
Brazil😬💪🏽🇧🇷
On the other hand, an adversary still remains in Brazil who defeated Chile by a 1-0 scoreline after a 46th minute Lucas Paqueta’s goal.
It should be recalled that it’s the same Brazil team that eliminated Argentina in the semi-finals of the last edition.
🇧🇷…🇵🇪⚔️
A possible Semi reunion won’t be possible this year though. Brazil will instead play Peru who defeated Paraguay on penalties after a 3-3 full-time result.

Football fans on their end are waiting to see if Lionel Messi who had been on terrific form throughout this tournament will break the jinx and win his country a first international trophy this year.
