Hello mes amies! The fashion column took a long hiatus and i’ve missed it just as much as you guys. But oh well, we are back for a while and this week we’ll be gisting about slaying in pairs! You’ll be wondering what inspired this post, but amidst all the matching couple, family, mother/daughter outfits that have been blowing our minds, the reason for this can’t be too far fetched.
As stated above, a lot of matching outfits have had us using the phrase “God when?” even way before it became a social media slang. Mothers rocking matching cloths with their children and having bachelorette’s go “my ovaries!” a very good example is the Queen Bey and Blue ivy’s slay on the red carpet of the lion king premiere. Beyonce wore a custom, crystal-embroidered tuxedo dress, matching blue ivy, who also wore a similar beaded blazer outfit, both made by Alexander McQueen.
Other celebrities well known in this regard include Mercy Aigbe and her daughter, Kim Kardashian and North, even Kate middleton and Princess Charlotte who don’t wear exactly the same pieces, but instead coordinate colours.
Fathers and sons are also not left out and nothing beats having the guys in your life twin up, making you fall in love all over again.
You can also trust peeps in relationships to serve all ye single people with fashion couple goals. For couple goals, the best i’ve seen so far has to be a recent tweet I came across where the guy’s tie always matches his lady’s dress. Phenomenal, I must confess.
I’m sure most of us haven’t tried the whole matching thing before, asides the ones parents usually force on siblings when they are young. Truth be told i’m also on this table and in a “God when?” situation too, lol. But watch out for my girl –Seyifunmi and I, as we break this.
Twinning outfits don’t have to be limited to the categories mentioned above, innit?
Xoxo,
M.tee
