When I hear the word ‘magic’

When I hear the word ‘magic’, what comes to mind?

“My favourite fairytales”- I stop to ponder

A pot of gold at the end of a rainbow

A witch or a wizard flying on a broom

A wand, spells and my fairy godmother

Saying “Abracadabra, magic wonder!”

When I hear the word ‘magic’, what comes to mind?

Memories of moments so fleeting yet so powerful

A tiny hand clutching my single finger

A little egg becoming a baby bird

The smiles we shared, indeed so beautiful

Ties that bind, imaginary and yet so forceful

When I hear the word ‘magic’, what comes to mind?

The magic in me is what I see

The gift of life, sight, and hearing

The power of my mind, my thoughts, and my intentions

I know I can be who I want to be

So I need no extra powers save the magic in me
