It was a night full of stars at the Ifeloju event centre as the Excelsiors Fortis wrapped up their final odyssey by dancing with them.

A sojourn that began in the year 2016 is finally coming to an end and the sojourners aka the Excelsiors-Fortis, the final year medical and dental students of Obafemi Awolowo University, decided to end their sojourn turned odyssey in grand style. They came up with many events and activities to mark their final days in medical school which they tagged “the final odyssey” and true to the Excelsiors name, these events were excellently executed.

They began their FYB activities with a mountain hike where they did some exercise, danced and conducted fun interviews that took them down memory lane and gave a glimpse into what the future might look like.

Next ,they dedicated the month of April to health advocacy and spent it dispelling myths and dishing out health tips and facts. They then took an exciting trip to Lagos where they had premium fun on the beach and played games like escape room and much more.

They had a class photoshoot and a seminar on medical career and the other options aside conventional clinical practice. A novelty match between the final year medical students and the dental students was also one of the events.

On August 5 2023, they gave back to the community with their campus health outreach where they gave free medical screening and consultations to both the young and old. during the outreach they also showed the wealth of knowledge gained in their many years on campus by sharing general and oral health education with the public.

The grand finale of the final odyssey was the Excelsiors Fortis dinner tagged “Dancing with the stars”. Our soon to be doctors came to slay and play hard and we so much love to see it!. Permit me to use all the Gen z terms in the books and say that they ate and left no crumbs, and no, i’m not talking about the food served, although I hear that was not spared either. The outfits were giving ! they slayed, they killed it ,they understood the assignment and they delivered. The corporate MC, their master of ceremony made sure they had a wonderful night playing various games and dancing… with the stars. Consequently, the event also doubled as an award ceremony.
