MediVoice: Helloooo! Welcome to another episode of Personality Of The Week (POTW). Today, we have . Over to you chief, could you tell us a bit about yourself?
POTW: My name is Timilehin Okunola, I am a Part 5 medical student,AU and on the side, a tech enthusiast
MediVoice: That’s awesome! How would you describe your personality in a few words?
POTW: I am a humble, kind, friendly and adventurous person. I think I’m also hardworking too. Importantly, I’m a child of God too.
MediVoice: Sounds like a great mix! So, are you involved in any leadership roles, either within IFUMSA or outside?
POTW: Within IFUMSA? No, Outside IFUMSA? I currently serve as the Public Relations Officer for the Antimicrobial Resistance Club OAU.
MediVoice: That’s really cool! Outside of the medical world, what do you love doing for fun?
POTW: Besides medicine, I think I enjoy coding and anything that involves solving problems. That’s one thing that connects me to a part of me I lost after coming into medical school. I also enjoy drumming. I don’t know why I enjoy doing this, I just love doing it😂
MediVoice: Drumming and coding—quite the combination! How do you think other medical students can get into the tech side of things?
POTW: It’s simple, have an open mind. There’s tech everywhere you go. Just find what interests you and build on it from there. And the Internet is the largest goldmine ever, so you have all you need at your fingertips. But always remember, medicine comes first, while you’re still in school.
MediVoice: Definitely! So, do you see yourself practicing medicine in the future? Any specialties catching your eye?
POTW: I’m undecided yet whether I will practice medicine or not. But if I will, it’s probably Public Health or Plastic and Reconstructive surgery. However these Interests might change in the coming years.
MediVoice: Keeping your options open—smart move! When it comes to entertainment, are you more into books, movies, or theater plays?
POTW: I don’t think I have a preference. It depends on the circumstances. But if I have to choose, I think I’ll go with movies.
MediVoice: Fair enough! Now, a fun question: any celebrity crush, college crush, or maybe a senior colleague you admire?
POTW: Crush ke? I don’t have any crush on anybody o.🙂
MediVoice: Got it! How about your relationship status—are you seeing anyone?
POTW: Can we move on to other questions please?🫠
MediVoice: No worries! Would you say you’re an introvert, extrovert, or somewhere in between?
POTW: I think I’m more of an introvert.
MediVoice: How has your journey through medical school been so far? Any tips on how you’ve managed to navigate it?
POTW: Omo, I don’t even know o. All I can say is “na God o”.😂😂. Aside from my personal efforts too, I also think being in the right place with the right people that had the right stuff/information at the right time has helped me a lot.
MediVoice: It sounds like you’ve had quite the journey. What are you most proud of, and is there anything that really gets you down?
POTW: I can imagine! Who inspires you? Do you have any role models or personal heroes?
MediVoice: I can imagine! Who inspires you? Do you have any role models or personal heroes?
POTW: I don’t believe in the concept of a role model. I only believe in picking pieces of information in many people’s journeys that can help you make wiser decisions on your own journey. My Personal heroes are my parents.
MediVoice: That’s a great perspective. How about a fun fact about you, or maybe something you’d like to change?
POTW: Fun fact about me, I love playing Scrabble a lot and I’d prefer to be private about the things I’d love to change about myself.
MediVoice: Scrabble’s a classic! Do you want to give a shout out to anyone?
POTW: My shoutout goes to my sister. And whenever she reads this, I want her to know that I admire her strength, resilience and courage a lot.
MediVoice: That’s sweet! Lastly, any final thoughts for MediVoice and your fellow students?
POTW: Medivoice was one of the first families I made on campus and the club has been nothing short of that. I’m proud to be a member and I’m proud of everyone at the club and all we’re doing.
