New Old Life

We used to seek rebirth

In voyages to discover new lands

In deafening silence, enough to rival the noise in a convent

In our hearts, because we thought only our dreams and wishes held our true selves

Now the only rebirth we wish for

Is to dance in the rain once again

And to feel the heat of the sun on our skin

To smile at a person less than 6 feet away

And to return to life as we used to know it
